McQuire Rens & Jones (Pvt) Ltd. organised yet another very successful public seminar at the Trans Asia Hotel,
Colombo
, on ‘World-Class HR Processes and Practices’, on 29th and 30th May 2007. Over one hundred and forty (140) participants, mainly from the HR function, actively participated at this seminar. There were several hands-on HR experts and CEOs of leading private sector organisations who led the sessions on both days. These sessions were supported by a team of top HR professionals during the panel discussions at the end of the sessions on both days.
The areas covered at this two-day programme were ‘CEO’s perspective of HR in business organisations’ by Nalaka Godahewa (CEO, Sri Lanka Insurance); ‘Integrating HR processes with business processes’ by Nalin Jayasuriya (MD & CEO, McQuire Rens Group); ‘Planning for attraction and retention of talented people’ by Isuru Thilakawardena (Director Group HR, Hemas Holdings Ltd.); ‘Professionalising the recruitment process’ by C. Hewapattini (Head of HR, Nations Trust Bank); ‘Building ownership and accountability through structured induction’ by Bennett Patternott (General Manager Group HR, Carsons management services Ltd.); ‘A CEO’s view on how T&D impacts an organisation’ by Srilal Miththapala (CEO, Serendib Leisure Management Ltd.); ‘Importance of organisational behaviour to management’ by Gajaba Gunewardena (Project Director World Bank funded projects for Ministry of Highways); ‘Measuring the impact of training on performance’ by Ajith Bopitiya (MD, Triconsult (Pvt) Ltd.); ‘Executive coaching for personal effectiveness’ by Nalin Jayasuriya; ‘Reward & recognition making it work’ by Ubaya Dissanayake (General Manager organising and development, South Asia Gateway Terminals (Pvt) Ltd.) and ‘Role of training in organisations’ by Dr. Archana Arcot (Vice President, WNS Global Services Ltd).
The panel discussions were handled by Roshan Kulasuriya (Director HR, Fonterra Brands Lanka Ltd), Chitral Amarasiri (DGM HR, Commercial Bank of Ceylon Ltd), Anoma Iddamalgoda (Head of e-learning, Sampath Bank Ltd.) and Dr. Archana Arcot.
